(1) ESPRESSO MAKERS RECALLED DUE TO FIRE HAZARD

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with the firm named below, today announced a voluntary recall of the following consumer product. Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed.

Name of Product: Orchestro Espresso Makers

Units: About 2,100

Importer: Krups, of Medford, Mass.

Manufacturer: Eugster/Frismag of Switzerland

Hazard: The electrical connectors in the espresso machine can erode, posing a fire hazard.

Incidents/Injuries: None reported.

Description: The recalled espresso makers are black and silver, have a silver control panel, and can make two cups of espresso at once. The word “KRUPS” is printed on the front of the machine. The model number and factory mark are stamped on a silver sticker on the bottom of the machine. The following are the recalled models:

Sold at: Department stores and independent specialty stores nationwide from January 1999 through November 2005 for about $850

Manufactured in: Switzerland

Remedy: Consumers should immediately stop using the espresso machines and contact Krups for a free repair.

Potential Number Of Units Affected : 775

Summary: CERTAIN FEDERAL-MOGUL MECHANICAL FUEL PUMPS, P/N M847, SOLD UNDER THE BRAND NAMES OF NAPA AND CARTER FOR USE AS REPLACEMENT EQUIPMENT ON VARIOUS PASSENGER VEHICLES. THE FUEL PUMPS WERE SHIPPED BETWEEN MAY 1 AND DECEMBER 20, 2005. THESE FUEL PUMPS CONTAIN A DEFECTIVE VALVE HOUSING THAT COULD ALLOW FUEL TO LEAK.

Consequence: FUEL LEAKAGE IN THE PRESENCE OF AN IGNITION SOURCE COULD RESULT IN A FIRE.

Remedy: FEDERAL-MOGUL WILL NOTIFY CUSTOMERS AND REPLACE THE FUEL PUMPS FREE OF CHARGE. THE RECALL BEGAN ON JANUARY 13, 2006.

Summary: ON CERTAIN TWO WHEEL DRIVE SPORT UTILITY VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH 3.7 LITER ENGINES, THE LEFT OXYGEN SENSOR WIRING HARNESS MAY CONTACT THE EXHAUST PIPE.

Consequence: DAMAGE TO THE WIRING HARNESS COULD RESULT IN AN UNDERBODY FIRE.

Remedy: DEALERS WILL INSPECT THE OXYGEN SENSOR WIRING HARNESS TAKEOUT FOR DAMAGE. IF THE TAKEOUT IS DAMAGED, THE WIRING WILL BE REPAIRED AND A TIE WRAP INSTALLED TO SECURE THE EXCESS LENGTH OF WIRING HARNESS. IF THERE IS NO DAMAGE, A TIE WRAP WILL BE INSTALLED TO SECURE THE EXCESS LENGTH OF THE WIRING HARNESS. THE RECALL IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN DURING FEBRUARY 2006. OWNERS MAY CONTACT DAIMLERCHRYSLER AT 1-800-853-1403.

Summary: ON CERTAIN MINIVANS (BUICK TERRAZA, CHEVROLET UPLANDER, AND PONTIAC MONTANA SV6) BUILT ON PLATFORMS BY BRAUN, A FUEL HOSE CAN RUPTURE ALLOWING FUEL TO BE PUMPED FREELY FROM THE FUEL TANK AND INTO THE AREA UNDERNEATH THE DRIVER'S SEATING POSITION.

Consequence: THIS CAN CAUSE UNEXPECTED VEHICLE DECELERATION OR, IN THE PRESENCE OF AN IGNITION SOURCE, A FIRE.

Remedy: DEALERS WILL REPLACE A SHORT SECTION OF THE FUEL LINE HOSE WITH A SIMILAR FUEL HOSE WITH A HIGHER PRESSURE RATING. THE RECALL IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN DURING FEBRUARY 2006. OWNERS MAY CONTACT BRAUN AT 1-800-946-7513.

(5) POLYCOM INC. RECALLS CONFERENCE PHONE BATTERIES FOR FIRE HAZARD

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with the firm named below, today announced a voluntary recall of the following consumer product. Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed.

Name of Product: Lithium Ion batteries in SoundStation2W wireless conference phone

Units: About 21,000 units in the U.S. (About 27,700 units worldwide)

Manufacturer/Distributor: Polycom Inc., of Pleasanton, Calif.

Hazard: These batteries can overheat, which could pose a fire or burn hazard.

Incidents/Injuries: Polycom has received two reports of batteries overheating and causing minor damage to the tables on which the units sat. No injuries have been reported.

Description: The recalled batteries were sold with the SoundStation2W wireless conference phones, and separately as replacement batteries. The SoundStation2W Part Number is printed on the underside of the telephone. The SoundStation2W Part Numbers and SKU numbers are as follows:

The batteries have a black or white plastic coating and a white label with the following title: “RECHARGEABLE Li-ion BATTERY.” The recalled battery Part Numbers can be found on the bottom right hand corner of the white label on the battery pack. The date code can be found to the left of the Part Number. Recalled batteries have the date code of 1205 (December 2005) or earlier printed on the white label of the batter pack. Sold by: Polycom business to business resellers who sell through catalogs, online, telesales, through office supply stores or on the Polycom Web store from August 2004 through January 2006 for between $700 and -$900. Replacement batteries were sold for between $50 and $90.

Manufactured in: The batteries were manufactured in China.

Remedy: Customers should remove the battery pack from their SoundStation2W unit immediately. Once the batteries are removed, customers can still use their conference phone by keeping the charger plugged into the unit. Customers should not attempt to use other batteries in the unit. Consumers should contact Polycom Inc. for information on receiving a free replacement battery.

(6) BARBEQUES GALORE INC. RECALLS GAS GRILLS POSING RISK OF GAS LEAKS, FIRES

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announces the following recalls in voluntary cooperation with the firms listed below. Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed.

Name of Product: Turbo Sport Portable Infrared LP Gas Grills

Units: About 1,800

Distributor: Barbeques Galore Inc., of Lake Forest, Calif.

Hazard: The grills have faulty regulators that can release too much gas to the burner causing an excessive burner flame. This also poses a risk of gas leaks, fires and explosions if an ignition source is present.

Incidents/Injuries: There have been 18 reports of excessive flame or the regulator shutting off. No injuries have been reported.

Description: The Turbo Sport Portable Infrared LP Gas Grill is model number IR600; the model number is not identified on the grill. The Turbo Sport measures 16.5-inches long by 14-inches wide and 12-inches high. The portable grill is constructed of stainless steel with an attached stainless steel hood. The “Turbo Sport” nameplate is on the front panel of the grill. No other barbecue with the “Turbo” name is affected by this recall.

Sold at: Barbeques Galore Inc. stores nationwide from August 2004 through August 2005 for between $170 and $200.

Manufactured in: Taiwan

Remedy: Consumers should stop using these grills and return the regulator to a Barbeques Galore retail store for a replacement, or contact Barbeques Galore Customer Service to have a replacement regulator sent to them.
