  2. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and WestPoint Stevens, Inc. Announce Recall of Electric Blankets

(1) CONSUMER PRODUCT SAFETY COMMISSION (CPSC) AND DESIGNPAC, INC. ANNOUNCE RECALL OF OIL LAMPS

Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and DesignPac Inc. of Northlake, Illinois announce the recall of oil lamps. The hazard is the glass wick holder can shatter when lit, posing a fire.

The recalled lamps come in two styles: a clear, heart-shaped glass container approximately 6-inches tall called "The Vintage Rose Oil Lamp" and a clear, doorknob-shaped glass container approximately 5-inches tall with heart-shaped beads on the outside called "Love Potion Oil Lamp." Both recalled lamps have an insertable wick with a glass wick-holder, which sits on top of the glass container.

The lamps were sold exclusively in Target stores nationwide from December 2002 through February 2003 for about $7.

Consumers should tightly seal the contents, and return the lamps to any Target store nationwide for a refund. Consumers can contact Target toll-free at (800) 440-0680 between 7:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. Central Standard Time Monday through Friday, or visit the firm's Web site at http://www.target.com/gp/browse.html/ref=br_bx_0/601-3354650-3496108?node=3429381

(2) CONSUMER PRODUCT SAFETY COMMISSION (CPSC) AND WESTPOINT STEVENS, INC. ANNOUNCE RECALL OF ELECTRIC BLANKETS

Vellux® Fahrenheit TM blankets were sold in various colors and sizes to fit all mattress sizes. The temperature controller is white with the words, "WESTPOINT STEVENS" and "Fahrenheit Heated Blanket" printed on the front. The recall includes blankets manufactured from July 2002 through January 2003. The manufacture date is printed on a label sewn into the seam.

WestPoint Stevens will provide consumers postage-free return packaging to return the product, a full refund and $25 to compensate consumers for the inconvenience. Consumer can contact WestPoint Stevens, Inc. toll-free at (888) 439-4794 anytime. WestPoint’s media contact person is Toni Cauble who can be reached at (706) 645-4879.
