(1) NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRAFFIC SAFETY ADMINISTRATION (NHTSA) PUBLISHES RECALL OF 2001, 2002 AND 2003 TOYOTA TACOMA

National Highway Traffic Safety Administration recalls 2001, 2002 and 2003 Toyota Tacoma.

On certain pickup trucks, during side impact testing, a flange at the rear end of the double cab body deformed and interfered with the fuel inlet hose that connects the fuel filler pipe and fuel tank, resulting in damage to the fuel inlet hose. This damage could result in fuel leakage, which could result in a fire if in the presence of an ignition source.

Dealers will install a fuel hose protector on the body flange. Owner notification is expected to begin during July 2003. Owners who take their vehicles to an authorized dealer on an agreed upon service date and do not receive the free remedy within a reasonable time should contact Toyota at (800) 331-4331.

(2) NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRAFFIC SAFETY ADMINISTRATION (NHTSA) PUBLISHES RECALL OF 2002 – 2003 TOYOTA CELICA

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration issued a recall for 2002 – 2003 Toyota Celica.

The fuel tank check valve, located in the fuel tank inlet pipe, may become separated from the inlet pipe and fall into the fuel tank. If the check valve falls into the tank, fuel may spill from the fuel inlet pipe when the fuel pump automatically shuts off during fueling. This condition may result a fire in the presence of an ignition source. Owners may contact Toyota at (800) 331-4331.

National Highway Traffic Safety Administration recalls Recall of 1997 GMC Jimmy; 1998 Chevrolet Astro; 1998 GMC Safari; 1998 Chevrolet C/K Series; 1998 GMC C/K Series; 1997 – 1998 Chevrolet Suburban; and 1997 – 1998 GMC Suburban.

Under certain conditions, some sport utility vehicles, mini vans, and pickup trucks, may develop a short circuit in the electric outside rearview mirror switch. If this happens, it could result in an inoperative switch, heat damage to the driver’s door, and/or ignition of components in the driver’s door and a subsequent vehicle fire without prior warning.

National Highway Traffic Safety Administration recalls Recall of 2002 – 2003 Chevrolet G-Van; Chevrolet Tahoe; Chevrolet Suburban; Chevrolet C/K Series; GMC G-Van; GMC Yukon; GMC Suburban; GMC C/K Series; Ford E Van; Ford F Series; Ford Explorer; Ford Expedition and Dodge Minivan.

Some sport utility vehicle, pickup truck, and minivan conversions equipped with running boards manufactured by Southern Comfort, which include courtesy lights manufactured by American Technology Components, Inc., might overheat when the wire harness is exposed to excessive moisture and road salt. This overheating condition can cause the running board to melt or cause a fire.
