(1) CONSUMER PRODUCT SAFETY COMMISSION (CPSC) AND PIER 1 IMPORTS ANNOUNCE RECALL OF TEA LIGHT CANDLEHOLDERS

Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and Pier 1 Imports of Fort Worth, Texas announce recall of Beaded Fish Tea Light Candleholders

Hazard: The beads on these tea light candleholders can catch fire during use.

Description: These Beaded Fish tea light candleholders are red, pink or blue, and about 4-inches high and 8-inches long. The price sticker reads “Pier 1,” “China,” and “SKU 1997504,” SKU 1998132” or “SKU 1998145.”

Remedy: Stop using these tea light candleholders and return them to Pier 1 for a refund or store credit. Consumers also can remove and discard the tea light hanger inside the item, and use the beaded fish as a decorative light catcher only.

(2) CONSUMER PRODUCT SAFETY COMMISSION (CPSC) AND TURBO POWER, INC. ANNOUNCE RECALL OF HAIR DRYERS

Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and Turbo Power, Inc. of Flushing, New York announce recall of hand held hair dryers.

Hazard: These electric hair dryers are not equipped with an immersion protection device to prevent electrocution if the hair dryer falls into water. Such electric shock protection devices are required by industry standards for all electric hand-held hair dryers.

Description: The following hair dryers are recalled: Turbo 1500, Twin Turbo 2600, Turbo 2800 Silverado, Twin Turbo 2800, Mega Turbo 2500, Twin Turbo Ionic 3000, Parlux 3000, Mega Turbo 3000, Coldmatic 1500, Turbo Millennium 2000, Turbo 2200, and Super Turbo 1900. These hair dryers have pistol grips and have black, black and red, black and grey, or red and ivory plastic casing. They have two-prong power cords. The hair dryers are labeled in part: “Turbo Power” or “PIBBS” followed by the model number and this voltage marking: “110V/60HZ.” The boxes in which the hair dryers were sold said “Made in Italy.”

Remedy: Return the hair dryer to either the retail store where purchased or to Turbo Power for a free replacement. Mail to: Turbo Power Inc., 31-40 Downing Street, Flushing, NY 11354. Consumers will be reimbursed for shipping costs.

(3) CONSUMER PRODUCT SAFETY COMMISSION (CPSC) AND ELECTROLUX HOME PRODUCTS ANNOUNCE RECALL OF AIR CONDITIONING/HEATING UNITS

Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and Electrolux Home Products of Cleveland, Ohio announce recall of air conditioning/heating units.

Hazard: The heating coil in the units can be damaged during assembly, causing an electrical short and overheating, which poses a fire hazard to consumers.

Description: The recalled air conditioning/heating units are installed “thru-the-wall” and include the Frigidaire FAH12EM21 model and Carrier models 52FED31201AA. The model numbers can be found on a serial plate on the side of the unit. The beige AC/heating units are about 14” high, 24” wide, and 20” in depth.

Remedy: Consumers should stop using the units immediately and contact Electrolux for a free inspection and repair, if needed.
