(1) CONSUMER PRODUCT SAFETY COMMISSION (CPSC) AND DYNAMIC COOKING SYSTEMS ANNOUNCE RECALL OF SELF-CLEANING WALL OVENS

Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and Dynamic Cooking Systems of Huntington Beach, California announce the recall of Self-Cleaning Wall of Ovens.

Hazard: When the oven is in the self-cleaning mode, the oven’s exterior door temperature exceeds the allowable surface temperature limits under the industry voluntary standard for household electric ranges. Sustained contact with the door during self-cleaning mode could cause burns.

Description: These wall ovens come in single or double oven models in three color options: stainless steel, black, or white. The Wall Oven/Single (WOS) models have these serial numbers indicating the date of manufacture in 2003 and 2004 (the blank can be any of the letters A through L):

The Wall Oven/Double (WOSD) models have these serial numbers (the blank can be any of the letters A through L):

04_00001A to 04_00210A

The serial numbers are located on the oven frame’s left trim post, approximately 12 inches from the bottom. Open the oven door to read the serial number.

Remedy: Consumers should not use the oven in self-cleaning mode until free replacement doors have been installed. Call the company to make arrangements for free replacement oven doors.

(2) CONSUMER PRODUCT SAFETY COMMISSION (CPSC) AND TARGUS GROUP INTERNATIONAL, INC. ANNOUNCE RECALL OF UNIVERSAL ALL-IN-ONE PLUG ADAPTERS

Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and Targus Group International, Inc. of Anaheim, California announce the recall of Universal All-in-One Plug Adapters

Hazard: The adapters may have an electrical wiring problem, posing a shock and fire hazard to consumers.

Description: The recall involves 110/220 volt All-in-One Universal Travel Adapters. The black adapter unit provides four different types of power connection based on the different electrical outlets worldwide. The recalled adapters have the brand name “Targus” printed on the front. On the side of the adapter is a switch to allow the user to select one of the three country settings: “USA/Aust/N.Z.” or “Europe” or “U.K.”

Remedy: Consumers should stop using the adapters immediately and contact Targus to receive a full refund.

(3) CONSUMER PRODUCT SAFETY COMMISSION (CPSC) AND SMC MARKETING CORP., OF GRAND PRAIRIE, TEXAS, AND HOME DEPOT U.S.A., INC. ANNOUNCE RECALL OF “SMC” BRAND OSCILLATING FLOOR FANS

Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), SMC Marketing Corp., of Grand Prairie, Texas, and Home Depot U.S.A., Inc., of Atlanta, Georgia, are voluntarily recalling about 2.2 million “SMC” brand oscillating floor fans. The electric power cord can be damaged by the oscillation motion of the fan. The damage to the cord can result in a short circuit and possible ignition of the plastic case, posing a fire hazard.

The recall includes 18-inch, pedestal floor fans with model number SR-18 or SP-18. The model number is on the back of the fan beside the on/off button. All of the recalled fans are white with the brand name, “SMC,” written on the faceplate of the front grill. The Home Depot sold these fans from January 1997 through October 2001 for about $20. The recalled fans also were sold at other retailers, some of which have gone out of business.

Consumers should stop using the recalled fans immediately and either return them to the Home Depot for a store credit, or contact SMC Marketing Corp. for instructions on receiving a refund. The Home Depot will accept all recalled fans.

For information on receiving a refund, consumers should contact SMC Marketing Corp. toll-free at (800) 527-3675 between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Central Standard Time Monday through Friday. For more information about store returns, consumers can call Home Depot toll-free at (800) 553-3199 between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Eastern Standard Time Monday through Friday. Recall information also is available at the Home Depot’s Web site: www.homedepot.com

The Home Depot is a major retailer and importer of these fans. These fans were supplied by Shell Electric Manufacturing (China) Co. Ltd. SMC Marketing Corp. represents Shell Electric Manufacturing (China) Co. Ltd. in the United States.
