(1) THE SWISS COLONY RECALLS MONEY BAG CANDLES FOR FIRE HAZARD

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with the firm named below, today announced a voluntary recall of the following consumer product. Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed.

Name of Product: “Money Bag” Candles

Units: About 65,500

Distributor: The Swiss Colony, of Monroe, Wis.

Hazard: The decorations on the candle can ignite, posing a fire hazard. Also, excessive pooling of wax from the burning candles poses a burn hazard.

Incidents/Injuries: The Swiss Colony has received four reports of incidents involving the candle igniting nearby combustibles including one report of extensive property damage. No injuries have been reported.

Description: The recalled product is the “Money Bag” candle, which is 3 ¾-inches tall and green in color. There is a gold glitter dollar symbol on the front of the candle and the candle is molded in the shape of a bag. Inside the candle is a varying amount of money from a $1 coin to a $50 bill. Hang tags on the candle identify the candle as “The Money Bag by The Original Treasure Candle, ® Inc.” They were sold under item numbers BI4372, BR4372, RA7372, RB4372, RG4372 and RW4372. The item number is not written on the candle.

Manufactured In: United States

Sold by: The Swiss Colony catalog, Web site and outlet stores nationwide from September 1997 through April 2006 for about $20.

Remedy: Consumers should stop using this recalled product immediately and contact The Swiss Colony for instructions on how to return the product for a full refund.

(2) CFM CORP. RECALLS SEQUOIA WOOD BURNING FIREPLACES FOR FIRE HAZARD

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with the firm named below, today announced a voluntary recall of the following consumer product. Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed.

Name of Product: Sequoia Wood Burning Fireplaces

Units: About 1,300

Manufacturer: CFM Corp. of Mississauga, Ontario, Canada

Hazard: Due to insufficient insulation or a missing weld, some of these fireplaces could pose a fire hazard.

Incidents/Injuries: None reported.

Description: Only models EWF30, EWF36, and EWF36A are affected by this recall. The recalled fireplaces are 400 or 700 pound steel plate wood-burning fireplaces with the trade name “Sequoia.” The fireplaces measure 30-inches-wide or 36-inches-wide, have doors which seal them and are designed for installation in openings in the walls of homes that connect to chimneys. Affected model and serial numbers are:

The name "CFM Corporation" and the model and serial number are located on the rating plate at the bottom right corner of each fireplace

Manufactured In: Canada and the United States

Sold at: Authorized Vermont Castings dealers in Canada and the United States from January 1, 2003 through mid-April, 2006 for about $2,200 for the EWF30 and about $3,000 for the EWF36 and EWF36A.

Remedy: CFM representatives or authorized dealers will arrange to conduct an in-home repair for every affected fireplace

(3) HOME FRAGRANCE HOLDINGS, INC. RECALLS CANDLES SOLD AT PIER 1 IMPORTS DUE TO FIRE HAZARD

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with the firm named below, today announced a voluntary recall of the following consumer product. Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed.

Name of Product: Cement Candles

Units: About 413,000 candles

Importer/Distributor: Home Fragrance Holdings Inc., Houston, Texas

Hazard: The candles can unexpectedly flare, posing a fire hazard to consumers.

Incidents/Injuries: Home Fragrance Holdings, Inc. has received nine reports from Pier 1 Imports of incidents involving flaring of the candles. No injuries reported.

Description and Models: The recalled candles are cylindrical pillars measuring 3”(d) x 4” (h), 3”(d) x 6”(h), and 4”(d) x 6”(h) with a sand layer base. The recalled models are the Cement Aspen Flower (White), SKUs 2115564, 2115577, 2115592; Cement Downpour (Grey), SKUs 2118150, 2118176, 2118189; Cement Biscotti (Khaki), SKUs 2115523, 2115536, 2115549; and Cement Citrus Cilantro (Green), SKUs 2115499, 2115508, 2115510.

Sold by: Pier 1 Imports through its retail stores nationwide, its Web site (www.pier1.com) and its Summer 2006 catalog from February 2006 through May 2006 for between $10 and $20.

Manufactured In: Guatemala

Remedy: Consumers should stop using the recalled candles immediately and return them to their nearest Pier 1 Imports retail store for a full refund or merchandise credit.
