(1) CONSUMER PRODUCT SAFETY COMMISSION (CPSC) AND DESIGNPAC ANNOUNCE RECALL OF OIL LAMPS

Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and DesignPac of Northlake, Illinois, announces the recall of oil lamp boxed sets.

Hazard: The bottles of paraffin oil in these sets do not have the child-resistant closures required by federal law.

Description: The boxed sets contain a clear vase with pink or purple floral designs, and a 16-ounce bottle of paraffin oil. The packaging is labeled "Hand painted Oil Lamp Set" and "Floral Garden." Item number 054 11 0229 is printed on the packaging.

Sold at: Target stores nationwide from February 2003 through March 2003 for about $10.00.

Remedy: Return the oil lamp sets to any Target store for a refund.

(2) CONSUMER PRODUCT SAFETY COMMISSION (CPSC) AND DE BON SALES ANNOUNCE RECALL OF CIGARETTE LIGHTERS

Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and De Bon Sales, Inc. of Houston, Texas announces the recall of novelty cigarette lighters.

Hazard: The novelty lighters are not equipped with child-resistant mechanisms. They pose fire and burn hazards to young children.

Description: There are two styles of lighters included in this recall. The first is a chrome and silver lighter, in the shape of a rearing horse. It is about 2.3 inches long and is labeled "DE-L-36." The second lighter is silver-colored, in the shape of a bird head holding a snake. It is about 2.5 inches long and is labeled "DE-L-23."

Sold at: Dollar stores in Texas from November 2002 through December 2002 for about $1.

Remedy: Return the lighters to the store where purchased for a refund.

(3) CONSUMER PRODUCT SAFETY COMMISSION (CPSC) AND TOSHIBA AMERICA CONSUMER PRODUCTS, INC. ANNOUNCE RECALL OF REAR PROJECTION TELEVISIONS

Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and Toshiba America Consumer Products, Inc. of Wayne, New Jersey announce recall of rear projection televisions.

Hazard: If the capacitors short circuit due to a very high electrical surge, such as from a lightening strike, the metal parts on the television could present a shock or electrocution hazard. In addition, the metal jacks on the back of the television or another metal box attached to the television could present a shock or electrocution hazard as a result of the capacitors' failure.

Description: This program includes a limited number of units of the following Toshiba rear projection televisions: Model 50A62, Model 51H83, and Model 57H83. To determine if your television set is affected by this corrective action, go to www.tacp.toshiba.com/safety_notice.asp and follow the instructions.

Remedy: Toshiba has contacted many of the owners of the affected televisions. However, if you have not been contacted, please contact Toshiba at the phone number or Web site below. Consumers who have an affected television will receive a free replacement, which includes removal of the recalled television, delivery and installation of the replacement.
