RADIO SYSTEMS CORPORATION RECALLS POWER ADAPTERS SOLD WITH PETSAFE® HEATED WELLNESS SLEEPERS DUE TO FIRE HAZARD
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with the firm named below, today announced a voluntary recall of the following consumer product. Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed. It is illegal to resell or attempt to resell a recalled consumer product. Name of Product: Power Adapters for heated pet beds Units: About 20,000 Importer: Radio Systems Corporation of, Knoxville, Tenn. Hazard: When the metal connector is removed from the bed, it can cause arcing between the coil spring and the connector, posing a fire and burn hazard to consumers. Incidents/Injuries: The firm has received three reports of connectors melting. No injuries or fires have been reported. Description: This recall involves the Class 2 Transformers that were sold with PetSafe Heated Wellness Sleepers. The power adapters are identified by the markings "PLUG IN CLASS 2 TRANSFORMER," "MODEL NO: K12-800" and have a spring coil covering the length of the electrical wire that goes from the sleeper. Power adapters without spring coils are not affected by this recall. Sold at: Pet specialty stores, catalog and online retailers nationwide from September 2006 through April 2010 for between $70 and $110. Manufactured in: China Remedy: Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled power adapter and contact the firm to receive a free replacement adapter. CRATE AND BARREL RECALLS SUCCULENT PLANT-SHAPED CANDLES IN A POT DUE TO FIRE HAZARD
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and Health Canada, in cooperation with the firm named below, today announced a voluntary recall of the following consumer product. Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed. It is illegal to resell or attempt to resell a recalled consumer product. Name of product: Succulent plant-shaped decorative candles in a pot Units: About 5,400 in the U.S. and about 90 in Canada. Importer: Crate and Barrel, a division of Euromarket Designs Inc., of Northbrook, Ill. Hazard: The wax in this candle melts quickly inside and overflows outside the pot and can ignite, posing a serious burn and fire hazard to consumers. Incidents/Injuries: The firm has received one report of the wax igniting. No injuries or property damage were reported. Description: This recall involves a set of nine succulent plant-shaped green candles in clay pots that were sold in a black container with a SKU number of 557-806. The SKU numbers are on the bottom of the original packaging. Sold at: Crate and Barrel stores and online at www.crateandbarrel.com from February 2010 through April 2010 for about $7. Manufactured in: China Remedy: Consumers should immediately stop using the candles and return the product to any Crate and Barrel store for a full refund. Consumers who purchased the recalled candles through Crate and Barrel's catalog or on the firm's Web site should contact Crate and Barrel to arrange to return the candles for a full refund. GE RECALLS FRONT LOAD WASHERS DUE TO FIRE AND SHOCK HAZARDS
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with the firm named below, today announced a voluntary recall of the following consumer product. Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed. It is illegal to resell or attempt to resell a recalled consumer product. Name of Product: GE Front-Load Washing Machines Units: About 181,000 Manufacturer: GE Appliances & Lighting, of Louisville, Ky. Hazard: A wire can break in the machine and make contact with a metal part on the washtub while the machine is operating, posing fire and shock hazards to consumers. Incidents/Injuries: GE is aware of seven incidents in which flames escaped the units and caused minor smoke damage. No injuries have been reported. Description: This recall involves GE front-load washing machines without auxiliary water heating. Model and serial numbers are listed in the chart below. Recalled washing machines were manufactured between December 2006 and February 2010. The model and serial numbers are located on the bottom right side and on the bottom door frame of the washers.

MAYTAG RECALLS DISHWASHERS DUE TO FIRE HAZARD
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with the firm named below, today announced a voluntary recall of the following consumer product. Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed. It is illegal to resell or attempt to resell a recalled consumer product. Name of Product: Dishwashers Units: About 1.7 million in the United States Manufacturer: Maytag Corp. of Newton, Iowa or Maytag Corp. of Benton Harbor, Mich. Hazard: An electrical failure in the dishwasher’s heating element can pose a serious fire hazard. Incidents/Injuries: Maytag has received 12 reports of dishwasher heating element failures that resulted in fires and dishwasher damage, including one report of extensive kitchen damage from a fire. No injuries have been reported. Description: The recall includes Maytag®, Amana®, Jenn-Air®, Admiral®, Magic Chef®, Performa by Maytag® and Crosley® brand dishwashers with plastic tubs and certain serial numbers. The affected dishwashers were manufactured with black, bisque, white, silver and stainless steel front panels. The brand name is printed on the front of the dishwasher. The model and serial numbers are printed on a label located inside the plastic tub on a tag near the left side of the door opening. Sold at: Department and appliance stores and by homebuilders nationwide from February 2006 through April 2010 for between $250 and $900. Manufactured in: United States Remedy: Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled dishwashers, disconnect the electric supply by shutting off the fuse or circuit breaker controlling it, inform all users of the dishwasher about the risk of fire and contact Maytag to verify if their dishwasher is included in the recall. If the dishwasher is included in the recall, consumers can either schedule a free in-home repair or receive a rebate following the purchase of certain new Maytag brand stainless-steel tub dishwashers. The rebate is $150 if the consumer purchases new dishwasher models MDB7759, MDB7609 or MDBH979; or $250 if the consumer purchases new dishwasher models MDB8959, MDB8859, MDB7809 or MDB7709. Consumers should not return the recalled dishwashers to the retailer where purchased as retailers are not prepared to take the units back. HOOVER RECALLS UPRIGHT VACUUM CLEANERS DUE TO FIRE AND SHOCK HAZARDS
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with the firm named below, today announced a voluntary recall of the following consumer product. Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed. It is illegal to resell or attempt to resell a recalled consumer product. Name of Product: Hoover® WindTunnel T-Series™ Bagless Upright Vacuum Cleaners with Cord Rewind Feature Units: About 108,000 Importer: Hoover Inc., of Glenwillow, Ohio Hazard: The power cord is not properly routed or securely seated in the cord rewind assembly allowing the power cord to be pulled loose. This poses fire and shock hazards. Incidents/Injuries: Hoover has received three reports of minor burns to carpet and furniture and one report of a minor burn to a consumer's hand. Description: This recall involves Hoover® WindTunnel T-Series™ Bagless Upright vacuum cleaners with the cord rewind feature. This feature enables the cord to wind inside the vacuum for storage. Vacuums with the manufacturing code K09A followed by a green dot are not included in this recall. Vacuum cleaners with the cord rewind feature sold after November 2009 and with any other manufacturing code are not included in this recall. SONY RECALLS VAIO LAPTOP COMPUTERS DUE TO BURN HAZARD
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with the firm named below, today announced a voluntary recall of the following consumer product. Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed. It is illegal to resell or attempt to resell a recalled consumer product. Name of Product: Notebook computers Units: About 233,000 Manufacturer: Sony Electronics Inc. of San Diego, Calif. Hazard: The computers can overheat, posing a burn hazard to the consumer. Incidents/Injuries: Sony has received 30 reports of units overheating resulting in deformed keyboards and casings. No injuries have been reported. Description: The recalled products are VPCF11 Series and VPCCW2 Series notebook computers. The computers are available in many colors and have “VAIO” on the front outside panel. WIRE FEED WELDERS RECALLED BY STAR ASIA USA DUE TO BURN HAZARD
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with the firm named below, today announced a voluntary recall of the following consumer product. Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed. It is illegal to resell or attempt to resell a recalled consumer product. Name of Product: Wire feed welders Units: About 9,000 Importer: Star Asia USA, LLC d.b.a Titan, of Kent, Wash. Hazard: The wire welder's torch does not have a cold contactor as erroneously stated on the packaging and instruction manual. Without this feature, the welder generates an electrical arc immediately upon contact with the welding material, posing a burn hazard to consumers. Incidents/Injuries: None. Description: The recall involves the Vaper 90 amp flux wire feed welders with model number 41181. The wire welders are red and black. "Vaper" and "90 amp flux wire welder" can be found on the product's operation panel. The model number can be found on the top right hand corner of the package and on the first page of the users manual. Sold by: Pep Boys, Auto Zone and various other auto parts and tool centers nationwide from October 2006 through March 2010 for about $170. Manufactured in: China Remedy: Consumer should immediately stop using the wire welders and contact Star Asia to obtain a corrected instructions manual and packaging or for instructions on returning the product for a full refund. BAJA MOTORSPORTS RECALLS MINI BIKES AND GO-CARTS DUE TO FIRE AND BURN HAZARDS
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with the firm named below, today announced a voluntary recall of the following consumer product. Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed. It is illegal to resell or attempt to resell a recalled consumer product. Name of Product: Baja Motorsports Mini Bikes and Go-Carts Units: About 308,000 Importer: Baja Inc., d/b/a Baja Motorsports, of Phoenix, Ariz. Hazard: The gas cap can leak or detach from the fuel tank on the recalled mini bikes and go-carts, posing a fire and burn hazard to consumers. In addition, the throttle can stick due to an improperly positioned fuel line and throttle cable, posing a sudden acceleration hazard to consumers. Incidents/Injuries: The firm has received at least 9 reports of the gas caps leaking and detaching, including one report of a serious burn injury to a child. The firm has also received 25 reports of stuck throttles possibly due to the fuel line and throttle cable being improperly attached with injuries to the face and other parts of the body reported. Description: This recall involved Baja Motorsports mini bikes with model numbers beginning with HT65, MB165, WR65, MB196, DB30, WR90 and DR90 and go-carts with model numbers BB65, SD65, DN65 and TR65. The model number is located on the mini bikes’ fenders and/or decorative fuel tank and on the go-carts’ roll cage. They both have black plastic gas caps. Sold at: Various mini bike and go-cart retailers nationwide from November 2004 through June, 2010 for between $200 and $2000. They were also available from the following web sites: Costco.com; Amazon.com; toysrus.com; northerntool.com; sears.com; and kmart.com. Manufactured in: China Remedy: Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled mini bikes and go-carts and contact Baja Motorsports for a free replacement gas cap and to schedule a free repair of the fuel line and throttle cable. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with the firm named below, today reannounced a voluntary recall of the following consumer products. Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed. It is illegal to resell or attempt to resell a recalled consumer product. Name of Product: Portable Dehumidifiers Units: About 98,000 (previously recalled in December 2009) Manufacturer: LG Electronics Tianjin Appliance Co., of China Hazard: The power connector for the dehumidifier's compressor can short circuit, posing fire and burn hazards to consumers. Incidents/Injuries: LG has received four additional reports of fires involving the recalled dehumidifiers, including one that resulted in significant damage to a home. No injuries have been reported. Description: This recall involves 30-pint portable dehumidifiers sold under the brand names in the chart below. The dehumidifiers are white with a red shut-off button, controls for fan speed and humidity control and a front-loading water bucket. "Goldstar" or "Comfort-Aire" is printed on the front. The model and serial numbers are printed on the interior of the dehumidifiers and can be viewed after the water bucket is removed.

CIRCUS WORLD RECALLS WIRELESS VIDEO BABY MONITORS DUE TO OVERHEATING HAZARD
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with the firm named below, today announced a voluntary recall of the following consumer product. Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed. It is illegal to resell or attempt to resell a recalled consumer product. Name of Product: Levana Wireless Video Baby Monitors Units: About 800 Distributor: Circus World Displays Limited (CWD), of Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada. Hazard: Wiring in the baby monitor camera can overheat and emit smoke, posing a burn hazard to consumers. Incidents/Injuries: Circus World Displays has received two reports of the camera portion of the monitors overheating and smoking. No injuries have been reported. Description: This recall involves Levana wireless baby monitors with model number LV-TW300. The receiver front is white and green with six round buttons and the printed word "Levana". It is 7 inches tall and includes a stand/base. The camera is all white, about 5 inches tall and is attached to a 3 1/2 inch long white base. The camera can rotate and swivel in various directions. The camera and receiver each has its own A/C adapter. Sold at: BB Buggy and Health and Safety stores nationwide and on the Internet between February 2010 and May 2010 for about $200. Manufactured in: China Remedy: Consumers should immediately stop using and return the baby monitor directly to CWD for a refund or replacement with a different model.
