CPSC, CRACKER BARREL OLD COUNTRY STORE® ANNOUNCE RECALL OF MINIATURE MUSICAL BELLS CHRISTMAS TREES
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with the firm named below, today announced a voluntary recall of the following consumer product. Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed. Name of Product: Miniature Musical Bells Christmas Trees Units: About 3,700 Manufacturer: Cracker Barrel Old Country Store® of Lebanon, Tenn. Hazard: The tree could overheat and melt, posing a fire hazard. Incidents/Injuries: Two overheating incidents resulted in trees melting. No injuries or property damage have been reported. Description: These battery-operated Miniature Musical Bells Christmas Trees have the item number 233010. The tree is about 18-inches high and 8-inches wide with three tiers of bells and a lighted star at the top. Each tree has “Made in China” embossed on the bottom. The trees use eight “AA” 1.5-volt batteries. Manufactured in: China Sold at: Cracker Barrel Old Country Store® locations nationwide from August 2005 through September 2005 for $19.99. Remedy: Consumers should stop using these trees immediately and contact Cracker Barrel Old Country Store® for instructions on receiving a full refund. CPSC, INTERNATIONAL COMFORT PRODUCTS LLC ANNOUNCE RECALL TO REPAIR “PACKAGED GAS ELECTRIC” HEATING AND COOLING UNITS, OR "GAS-PACKS"
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with the firm named below, today announced a voluntary recall of the following consumer product. Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed. Name of Product: Certain “Packaged Gas Electric” heating and cooling units, or “Gas-Packs” Units: About 28,700 Manufacturer: International Comfort Products LLC, of Lewisburg, Tenn. Hazard: The unit's control board can ignite and, in certain units, can result in the ignition of flammable material adjacent to the unit. Incidents/Injuries: The firm has received three reports of minor property damage. There are no reports of injuries. Description: The recall involves certain limited “Gas-Packs” sold under the brand names Airquest, Arcoaire, Comfortmaker, Heil, Keeprite, Kenmore, ICP Commercial, and Tempstar. The affected units were manufactured between the 41st week of 2000 and the 26th week of 2003, and are installed outside the home. The model and serial numbers of affected units are printed on the unit’s rating plate as shown in the photo below. Model numbers appear in the following typical format: PGC036K060A; serial numbers appear in the following typical format: L004112345. Affected models begin with PGC, PGF, PGS, GPFM, GPSM, or GPCM. CPSC, FAR EAST BROKERS AND CONSULTANTS, INC. ANNOUNCE SAFETY WARNING FOR JACK ‘O LANTERN BUCKET CANDLE HOLDERS
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Far East Brokers and Consultants, Inc., of Jacksonville, Fla., is warning consumers about 48,500 Jack ‘O Lantern buckets containing eight tea lights. The Halloween decoration is intended for use with a single tea light candle. If all eight candles included with the unit are lit at the same time, it can generate too much heat and pose a fire hazard.
The firm has received three reports of fires when consumers lit the eight candles in the bottom of the bucket decoration. The reports include damage to carpets and a table, other minor property damage and one second degree burn. The Jack ‘O Lantern buckets are tea light candle holders sold in three colors: orange, cream and black. The buckets are about 6.25 inches high and about 7 inches in diameter at the top. They have item number 14609-00 or 14609-02 written on a sticker located on the bottom of the buckets. Grocery and discount stores nationwide sold these Halloween decorations beginning in July 2005 for between $2 and $3. Consumers with these decorations are urged to use only a single candle at a time. Also, ensure the wick of the tea light is trimmed according to the instructions on the bottom of the bucket and follow the other burning instructions. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with the firm named below, today announced a voluntary recall of the following consumer product. Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed. Name of Product: Battery-Powered Ride-On Vehicles Units: About 141,000 Manufacturer: Dorel Juvenile Group USA, of Columbus, Ind. Hazard: An electronic malfunction can occur in the ride-on vehicle’s circuit board and/or battery connector, resulting in smoking and melting of components. This poses a vehicle fire hazard and a burn hazard to consumers if components are touched while malfunctioning. Incidents/Injuries: The firm has received 49 reports of overheating or melting components on the ride-on vehicles. No injuries have been reported. Description: The recalled battery-powered ride-on vehicles include the Pink Corvette®, Torch Red Corvette®, Yellow Race Car Corvette®, Red Electroplate Corvette®, Fire Engine, and Batmobile® with the model numbers listed in the chart below. They were sold under the brands Safety 1st and Kid Trax by Safety 1st. The ride-on vehicles were manufactured between January 2004 and August 2005. The manufacture date is located on the underside of the unit and is molded into the plastic body as shown below. The circle on left displays the month of manufacture, the circle on the right displays the year of manufacture. The model numbers are located on the underside of the vehicles near the date code.
