Lutz, William E. Computer mapping--a proven tool to fight arson. Fire
and Arson Investigator. Vol 47 No 1 (September 1996). p 15-18.
Abstract: This article discusses the application of computer mapping
as a tool to fight arson.
Camden, New Jersey, had a problem with a large number of arson fires
occurring on Halloween Eve (October 30th). In response to this, an arson
prevention program utilizing computer mapping was implemented to identify
probable arson targets.
Information was gathered from tax records, water and sewage service records.
This information was put into a database and integrated with computer mapping
software. Searches based on a variety of parameters were carried out to
identify probable arson targets.
