Dulley, James. Gas Absorption Air Conditioners Are Quiet and Economical
To Run. Union News. August 21, 1990. p. 23.
Abstract: This article discusses the advantages of a gas absorption
air conditioner compared to an electric central air conditioner. The economical
savings will depend on the costs of gas and electricity in the specific
area. The other great advantage is the simplistic construction of a gas
absorption unit. They are reliable and require little maintenance because
there are few moving parts. The gas absorption system uses an ammonia and
water solution for the cooling process instead of freon, which is damaging
to the environment. Some units have outside gas burners, which can be converted
to heating systems during the winter months.
