Abstract: This is a set of instructions for installing a Homasote wall shield in room heaters and fireplace stoves. It includes safety precautions that should be followed to prevent fires. A wall shield should be placed a minimum of 1 inch and a maximum of 3 inches above the floor and below the ceiling. The wall shield should be attached to a non-combustible spacer, which is then attached to the wall. The wall shield should not be closer than 1 inch to the wall. The wall shield should also extend at least 8 inches to each side of the projected area of the back of the stove or flue.
