Term of the week:

Thermocouple

A temperature-measuring device consisting of two dissimilar metals where the voltage at the junction of the metals, when compared to the voltage in the rest of the circuit, gives a temperature reading. Thermocouples are used in physical fire modeling and test burns to take temperature readings at different locations, often every few feet vertically in a “thermocouple tree” configuration.
