Question:

Are you having trouble accessing interFIRE VR on your laptop?

While working on my laptop for some time, I took a break and returned to work on the scenario in interFIRE. After resuming my work, I received an error code that included information about not be able to access information in memory.

I could no longer work without restarting interFIRE and beginning my saved work again.

Answer: Laptops often have power management that puts the computers major components to sleep. When you return to work, the laptop has powered down and the interFIRE program is looking for information it can't find.

While this does not disturb some applications, interFIRE sometimes will have a problem because of the large file sizes that are being used to display the details of a scene. Try saving your work and starting up interFIRE when you return.


Question:

Are you getting the error message "Director Player Error"?

During the scenario within interFIRE VR I am getting an error code that states "Director Player Error, Picture Expected (Member 18 of CastLib 6) Could you advise a fix or patch for this problem. Thanks for your assistance.

Answer: Some computers that have 24bit color displays or borderline resources available will often work better if you switch your display to 640X480 and use 16bit color.

Shut down all applications on your computer, go to "my computer" click on control panel, select display and make the change. Reboot your computer and then run interFIRE.

What are the computer specifications for running interFIRE VR?

Many people have been asking what kind of computer they should use or buy to run interFIRE VR.

Answer: As with any program, the faster the computer, the better the experience. interFIRE uses rather high-resolution images and requires quite a bit of computing power. While we recommend a minimum Pentium 200 with 32 megs of RAM and an 8X CD-ROM, the scenario experience will be much improved as the speed of the computer increases. There are many discounted Pentium computers on the market, we recommend that people always buy the fastest they can. Today's interactive programs use a lot of power to deliver Virtual Reality, Video and Audio.

Question:

Where can you get a copy of interFIRE VR?

I just took a class where I saw a demo of interFIRE VR. They stated that all fire departments could request and receive 1 free copy. Can you give me information on where to request a copy?

Answer:
If you are in the fire services, the USFA will be providing one copy to each fire department. You may go to their site and receive the necessary information. Go to www.usfa.fema.gov

Question:

How can you order interFIRE VR without a credit card?

I would like to order one copy of interFIRE VR without using a credit card on-line. Is it possible to place a non-credit card order, i.e., a check sent in the mail or a purchase order?
