45 No 3 (March 1995). p 41-42+.
Abstract: This article discusses some of the hurdles that fire
investigators need to overcome in promoting successful investigation and
prosecution of arson cases. Some of the common philosophies of successful
fire investigators are listed and discussed, which include: an understanding
of an arsonists motivation; who to target for interviews; scene investigation;
evidence collection; involvement of the prosecutor early in the case.
Four steps for a fire investigation are listed. This include: a preliminary
scene examination and size-up; interviewing witnesses; a full scene examination.
