Collins, Bruce A. Utilizing the Property Insurance Loss Register. Point
of Origin. 4th Quarter, 1993.
Abstract: This article explains how the Property Insurance Loss
Register works. This register is a database containing all fire, burglary,
and theft claims over $1,000. Approximately 96% of America's insurance companies
subscribe to the system. A claims representative can file a report of a
current loss investigation to the register. The system searches its database
and returns loss histories related to the individuals and property in question.
This is an insurance company resource and police and fire officials can
access the system only by contacting the insurance company. The information
would be returned the insurance adjuster, who can then provide the investigator
with the information returned.
