Indicators of Casualty Fraud. Insurance Crime Prevention Institute.
1989.
Abstract: In order to determine fraud, the adjuster must know
what to look for. This article compiles a list of arson indicators in several
categories. The list of indicators should help adjusters single out cases
and conduct further investigation. The existence of one or more indicators
does necessarily prove the claim is fraudulent and cannot be used as evidence.
The article organizes the list into the following categories: general fraud,
physical fraud, medical fraud, lost earnings, slip, fall, and food related
fraud, personal injury fraud, burglary/theft fraud, and arson-for-profit
fraud.
